4 plates of lemon chicken, fried fish, silken tofu, pork ribs, curry chicken, noodles, prawns, and loads of flour and cornstarch to go with it.
2 bandungs, cups of fruit punch
a burger to boot.
And that's what ended the 12 day atkins induction diet.
Guess it's back to the 6 small meals...
And my weight was at 92kg... in the morning yesterday...
In other news, I wore my dad's jeans out.it fits well, but it isn't comfortable sitting with it. And the Echo T-shirt, looks ok when standing, but the pudge comes out when I sit, and the shirt feels really tight...
Guess I've got a long way to go....

Ugh... Sea-salty sardines...
I don't know how my mum perfected the dish, canned sardines in tomatoes.
I just cooked one just now (okay... warmed up a can of it) and it.... ugh...
The fishy smell was very strong, and obviously the taste of the tomatoes didn't get to the sardines.
The sardines.. were like sardines.
Yucky... I even had to cook an egg to console myself...

Dieter's Complex?
You know that determination that I got from the last outing? It kind of shrunk. And I got another spur when I found out that I feel... fat.
Funny... I already weigh 95 kg and I feel like I'm fat.. at 115kg. Like I've got my double chin back, my stomach got a little bigger, and such...
Dieter's complex? Now I don't know whether what I'm doing is healthy or not...

The Difference Between Sunflower and Olive
The two oils.... Extra Virgin Olive oil is... very salty... smells of the sea... but it gives a good taste.
Sunflower seed oil is just.. oily... no salty smell though... but it's just oil...
Anyway, my weight is now peaking at 94 kg.... and I've gotten a real craving for rice or noodles just now.... it was... real bad... just got a little sick of eating the same thing for lunch...
Funny that I don't for kuay teow and such...
And I read a newspaper article on not dieting when trying to lose weight.... oh what the hell... I'm on the Atkins "Nutritional Plan"... doesn't make much difference....

The Killer Blow
Oh no.... I totally let myself go the last night.... and I got really catastrophic...
Yesterday, others would be saying I went carb-binging... and the weighing scale isn't lying. Took my weight in the morning, and it sprung to 95-96 kg!
But first to prove a point that the my weight loss plan is going well....
This was taken two years ago at the graduation, before entering NS and BMT:

that was 2 years ago
This is how I look now:

mum and me
seriously, the change cannot be seen... only around the stomach area... and think of all the full page ads on newspapers about weight loss and such... I'm sure the spokeperson is sucking in his stomach all the way during photosnapping then...
Ok... on to the meals..

yong tau foo and beancurd skin rolls
Yong tau Foo... oh yes... the low carb dish is here... not!
Apparently, the only low carb ingredient here is... tofu.
The meat in the tofu has starch, carrots, and spring onions. The main concern, starch, had to be there to make sure that the meat sticks together.
Secondly, the sauce is laden with soy sauce, which is really nothing, but also contains oyster sauce! Vegetarian or not, Oyster sauce contains much more carbohydrates than soy sauce, and I forgot to mention, that the sauce is thick: which also means that cornstarch may be used too...
Now on to the chicken:

kidneys and two xtra drumsticks

tasteless chicken
The chicken was entirely boiled in water, no grudges.... only thing is...

oh the sauce for chicken
the sauce! yes... it's also oyster sauce and soy sauce laden... so... you know...
And we all know that veggies contain carbs, but as long as I take in only 2 cups uncooked, it's alright. Problem is...

stir fried sprouts
before this thing is uncooked, it actually spanned a whole basket. I bet that's more than 15 cups of veg in there, and I ate half of it. Uh oh...
The main culprit:

chicken rice!!!
Chicken rice.... the killer blow... this thing is really once in a while, and I binged on it... Two bowls... indeed the killer blow...

the whole thing
And the champagne! who can forget the champagne! I actually didn't want much of it, but parental pressure wins in the end... "drink more! Drink more!" and my bro, took the least...
And to top it all off...

fruits
Fruits.... Frutose, sugars... argh...
Alright, today onwards, I'm resuming the induction again, this time with a bit of exercise... cycling...

Jeans
HOLY SHIT I CAN WEAR 36 INCH Jeans
no kidding, i tried it on just now, out of fun. the last time I did this was when I tipped the scale at 100kg, and it was really tight... had to suck in my stomach to wear the shit, but now... no need lah... buahahaha
I can wear 36 inch jeans liao.... ok might as well try the other pants I can't wear the last time... woot!!!!
Suddenly I thought about the posts last time, where I said about people "motivating" me that I lost weight when I didn't... It was a real torture then, and now I didn't really hear from them... maybe it's because of the shirt and jeans.... same size mah, so only close observers can notice...

Sunday
Ok.... today is the first official day I ate some grains....
had a bowl of kuay teow just now, and I'm expected to have a bowl of chicken rice.... the chicken rice is really a once in a while thingy, might as well have a good meal before embarking on Induction again next week. Anyways, I couldn't have meat for lunch because:
1) I didn't go and buy
2) Mum is around and she doesn't like me to be on some fancy diet
3) I overslept.
hahah... that's about it.... 93 kg and counting!!!

Atkins - Week 2, Day 6
Back from the outing~
At the movies, I got a huge cup of diet coke. Ho yeah, that's the best treatment of sweeteners I've got in the week man... Sweet....
I had also wanted to buy 2 cheese hotdogs, but due to earlier horrfiying experiences that hotdogs contain starch... I resisted. Anyway I've got a huge cup to drink on... haha
Then for dinner, we went to Billy Bombers, the eat-in famous for it's BURGERS. Saucy burgers with huge breads, and western dishes laden with lots and lots of breading...
What can I say.. of course, it's unavoidable: almost all of the dishes have carbo-laden ingredients. Even the side dishes are unforgiving: Potato Salads, or ice creams. My friends would suspect what in the world I'm doing with the food, so what the hell, might as well choose my meal wisely...
I settled for Chix 'n' Ribs with potato salad, and a cup of plain water. Not as bad as the burgers and breadingly-full cutlets. Thankfully, the sauces aren't that much, but the result is chicken meat that is really dry...
Oh well, I'll be resuming the Induction phase again, and tomorrow will be an enjoyable dinner... Thank god tofu is allowed on the atkins diet... hahaah...
Haven't weighed myself yet... *crosses fingers* hope my weight doesn't go yo-yo... and yeah... I don't think my friends saw the difference in me yet... got to make the weight drop....

Outing with friends
Today I'm going with my friends...
It's almost the end of the two week Induction, and I'll probably lighten up a bit for dinner with friends.
WEll, it's supposed to end this week, but with such satisfying results, I think I'll be carrying on atkins for another one or two weeks.
today is also the day I took out the tuna in oil, that indicated itself that it has 13g of carbos... hmm...
Be wearing the same clothes the last time I did... will my friends see the difference?

Canned Salmon Sucks
Nothing can be done, not even spices, chilli, garlic or any other flavouring.
Canned Salmon Sucks....
The taste of the fish really differs from that of a fresh one... this one seriously cannot make it. whoever can make a great dish out of this can of shit... gets my praise...
On another note, I ate eggs again... this time outside, because mum's busy in the kitchen. ASked for Kopi-O too, and after drinking half a cup, i realised it was a bit... sweet...
To my shock, the auntie came by and replied that kopi-O contains sugar, kopi-kosong is the one that contains only pure coffee...
GAH!!!!! FUCK FUCK FUCK!
Did another strip test this morning, and fat burning tested negative...
ah... fuck it....

What in the world...
Ok... in the afternoon, I think I had an overdose of meat... had tuna in sunflower seed oil in a whole new recipe. It's the current best edible so far... :-) I call it Canned Tuna Stir-Fried with Chopped Garlic, Chilli and Onions.
First I let the chilli flavour the oil in which I drained earlier on, and added in the garlic much later, cos I know they will overcook and turn blacky. Then I thought, what the hell, why not take some slices of onions that my mother is going to use for dinner today, and chop it up.
The result is a spicy plate of tuna that smells really nice! ... Okay.. while it's steaming hot. Haha!
Later on, I cooked half a portion of fatty pork.. and the hair... yuck, it was still protuding from the skin.... so I tried poaching it in water, and finally shaved it out with my knife. But seeing that it is just shaved, I continue scraping on, almost got half of the skin off the meat... Although it looks better...
Then I grilled it on a pan in a bit of oil and garlic.. still the same, but not as oily as last time.
Did a quick scanning on the atkins site, and got some relevations. burning of fat may not happen everytime, and I did another test...
It's positive for fat burning!!! But I gave it some thoughts, and made a supposition that I must eat food with fats to ensure this happens.....
And yes, mother's cooking definitely contains carbohydrates... The chicken was literally soaked with rice wine, and the canned black pepper tuna stir fried with sliced onions packs a lot too (sugar, starch, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and believe me, I've not started on the onions yet.) .
Oh please let my weight drop to at least 90kg... it's easier to calculate that way, and I can wear back my Echo Coy Shirt (which was one size too small), be able to use another belt, and fit in some old jeans...

Atkins Induction Not Working
Fuck!
I think Atkins is not working for me...
This morning, the weight is still at 94-95 kg.
And I took a urine sample...
Yeah, the people at Atkins are talking about some test strips that test for ketones, and I bought some.
Results
-------
Sugars - Negative
Proteins - A lot
Ketones - Negative (Maybe slightly postive)
Grrr.... the main purpose of Induction is to ensure fat is burnt primarily, and a positive Ketones test will show that it's starting, but NO!!!! Why is it taking so long!!!!
Fuck FUck CCB!

Atkins - Week 2, Day 2
Had a sausage today for breakfast, which my mother cooked when she found out I'm in no mood for bread.
The curiosity comes again, and ... the sausage has sodium nitrate. Yes, it's something bad if taken in huge amounts, but since the sausage is a once in a while thingy, i suppose it's okay.
Then I saw... starch as an ingredient...
^_^; Processed food seriously cannot be trusted.
I went to the supermarket again, with fresh moolah in my wallet. Looked around at fresh meat, and saw that lean pork seems to be the cheapest in all meats. hmm...
Anyway, I bought a portion of chicken breast, fatty pork, and lean meat, and I must say chicken's really tasty than the other meats. Along with the garlic, making it fragrant, and, oh yeah, the oil came from yesterday's dish, so the flavour is there...
I cooked the whole portion just like that, and I realised, making cuts on the face itself will make it completely cooked easily. But it's too late, and I re-cooked the chicken after slicing it across.
The fatty pork... the skin... has hair.... grr... i can't remove it.... do I have to poach the whole thing in water before the hair can fall off? And I think i know how I got diahorrea from eating fatty pork... yes... I forgot about removing the hair, and stir fried it...
Just in case, I... also bought some canned tuna. No, not the tuna in brine, but tuna in oil. I'm thinking which one's better, the one in sunflower oil, or the one in EXTRA virgin olive oil.
By the way... NTUC tuna in oil has a interesting fact/blooper... No sugars, no starches, no carbo-laden ingredient, but has 13 GRAMS IN CARBOHYDRATES??!!
what's left is how to make the tuna into a wonderful dish that has not much carbo, and it'll be perfect....
Oh, and to confirm the taste, I had another can of Diet coke. I can seriously differentiate the taste between sugar and sweeteners.
Guess the only part nice about the Coke is the fizziness, and caffeine that lingers on my body.
On another note, my weight's reached 94kg, but the scale hasn't been moving since the past three days... hmm... either my discipline is start to wither, or something is really wrong.

Atkins - Week 2, Day 1
Hahha....
I got to "secretly" eat eggs again... although I ate only one. This time with chopped onions... Not that nice... the onions got overcooked...
Then I got too lazy to got the supermarket to get meat, and yes, I looked sheepishly at the canned tuna again. This time, I'm found something interesting... Tuna in extra virgin olive oil. Hmm... interesting...
decided to stirfried it with diced garlic to give the fragrance a kick. Although it's not as nice as self cooked meat, but it's DEFINITELY better than tuna in brine, or with egg, on any circumstances.

Atkins - Week 1, Day 6
Today's a disaster...
I feel like I'm not in control of my diet....
However, I feel thinner...
How to say... like my pants got really looser than usual, and T-shirts that used to wring around my neck too...
But Today... what happened today??
I cooked fatty pork for lunch, since the atkins site said to take in liberal amounts of proteins AND Fats... so upon finishing the cooking, I discovered that the meat secretes a whole lot of oil...
So... yeah, I think today is the first time I've implemented high fat into my Atkins diet.
Then in the evening... is when it started going bad. No rice as usual, lotsa meat, lotsa veg, but I forgot that the winter melons for the soup base contains carbo, and much more than my daily limit, and I had 4 or 5 pieces of it...
Gah... what I did might have gone to waste....
Anyways, did up some searching, and found out that a serving of soy sauce contains sugar, like 2.5 grams of carbo. that's like 10% of my daily limit. holy shit.
Then at the supermarket... if there is a desire for ready to eat food, I can only look forward to tuna in brine (OMG, the sickly taste), hot dogs and luncheon meats (which ain't really good for health if taken regularly).
That leaves raw meat (not seafood, it's ex), which is personally cooked, and... eggs.
The two above are the only tasty things within my budget, and what I could eat now...
Eggs have a good taste in whatever way they are cooked, and cooked meat... ah... it's fresh, good meat...
also, today is the first day I actually had diarrhoea and shited green things out...
Yuck...

My condition as of now.
Well... only the fourth day, and my body seems to be feeling different.
My elbows joints are getting painful to move about... malnutrition?
And I feel... extremely light-headed nowadays.... Just from sitting down to standing up, I can feel a little wozzy... maybe it's just the lack of exercise... perhaps it's the absence of sugar in my food, or perhaps it's really malnutrition....

Atkins - Week 1, Day 3
I can't believe it's wednesday only.... It's a real torture.
My tongue has lost the taste for sugar for at least three days, and there is a strange feeling of nausea, because of the bitter feeling on my tongue.
Veggies are becomeing sweet, but the sweet taste goes away fast and I suddenly think about the wonderful taste of sugar, rice, and noodles.
Then there are the food that my mom cooks: I got the feeling that, now, every of her dishes contains sugar, cornstarch flour, or some carbohydrate-laden ingredient....
Arrgh.... I got the feeling of rejecting almost every food.
Anyways, my tongue is really the main concern, since the bland, bitter taste keeps lingering in my mouth.
The only food, that I savour are just my own cooked meat, and eggs. but... a fist-sized meat costs two dollars, and my mother is getting hysterical about the amount of eggs I've been eating for the week...
Now that I have no more fresh meat (and no more money) ... I've only got two cans of tuna in brine.... argh... the taste... bleccch.......
If anyone wants to know the current weight loss now... and it's the only thing that keeping me going...
Well.. I've reached the lowest of 95 kg... it fluctuates a bit, in the morning, it was 95! holy shit! Ok... I really think it's the cause of a calorie deficit of at least 600 calories per day. (And it's a lot I must say.)

Sugar Devil arises again
I realise.... sugar is everywhere...
Mum is about to cook some ribs, and was thinking of what to cook... honeyed? black pepper?
Of course I went for black pepper... then.... she says about adding sugar to it because the black pepper is surely too hot, and some special seafood sauce to make it tangy. and the sauce... contains, yep sugar....
Guess I'll just have fish and veg for the evening.........

Aw... disgusting...
The fact that I made a horrible dish, makes me think... I am a bad cook... warmed up canned tuna in trine and it tastes.. terrible.
Now I'm googling for canned tuna recipes... in the hope that I dun have to go through this for at least two more days...
So many recipes!! but I can't cook with what I have now! The fuck! I settled for an egg omelette.... gawd... I'll rather have eggs and cooked meat than canned tuna shit....

Carbo Sins
WTF....
My mum forced me to eat a tablespoon of my own fried rice...
and I realised I marinated my chicken with my BBQ sauce. and that contains sugar!
KNN!!!!

being a cook for a day
Went to NTUC to buy some meat, as there is no point grabbing meat from my parent's fridge: they'll know it and make a big fuss about it.
Got two chicken thighs, a cut of lean pork, and 3 cans of tuna in brine. well, at least that settles my lunch in the mean time...
The chicken was tough to dice as I de-boned it. I realise my mum really put her effort in her dishes... taking out the excess fat, flavouring it, and cuting it up bite sizes...
P.S.: was typing this as I was cooking my chicken thigh for another meal....... it got.... over roasted... but luckily it was tasty...
But I can't eat eggs for breakfast forever!!!!!

Atkins - Week 1, Day 1
Morning wise... Two poached eggs. it's been a while since I had such a classical breakfast, after eating home made bread and tuna for so long....
Afternoon wise.... it's quite a torture... Mum had me prepare fried rice and noodles. Thank god she prepared diced pork as an ingredient in this carbo-laden lunch. used half of it as my own consumption, and the rest for the rice and mee.
I have yet to buy meat from the supermarket, as my dad is still around, and I seriously have no clue on what to buy.... even if it is bought, where can I put it? The freezer is so packed.
Then there is the thawing.... grr... have to thaw food before I can eat....
Evening wise, I have... steamed ribs... some veg, and chicken poppers.... chicken poppers has breading, so I just had a few...
I discovered that Going on an Atkins Diet is quite stressful in asia. as the basic staple is carbohydrate-based, I got a feeling that not only am I going on a no carbohydrate diet, I am also going on a low calorie diet....
Woo.... I can feel the Muscle Loss coming... this is bad...

Atkins
Ok with nothing to do for now... I think I've decided to go for the induction part of the atkins diet.
Asked my mother whether she has hidden sugars in her dishes that she cooked. Well, she rarely adds sugars, which is a relief. But the cornstarch flour used to thicken some dishes' bases are quite a concern. But I should be able to see at once.
Dinner is settled. That leaves breakfast. The usual meal of tuna on bread and milk will be replaced with... eggs. Fried, steamed, I dunno.
Then for luncheon of ... hmm... chicken?
Ok.... let's hope this works... treading along the lines of a successful diet or a meal of dangerously high fat, high protein, and low carbo (which really cannot be determined.)
That also means I should be making daily updates to the blog here... at least it won't be so boring... hmm...
